VisitBrighton has announced a new virtual festival, The Big BrightonOnline Weekender, taking place throughout the weekend, 8 – 10 May.
Traditionally in Brighton, May is a celebratory month that signals the start of summer, with several leading arts, culture and music events – Brighton Festival, Brighton Fringe, Artists Open House and the Great Escape – all bringing joy and entertainment to hundreds of thousands of people every year.
Due to the quarantine and social distancing in effect, many arts, culture and other live events in Brighton were either cancelled or postponed. The Head of VisitBrighton, Howard Barden said: “We’re so excited to be running this festival full of amazing acts and events. We know this is a tricky time for the whole world and we’re thrilled to be providing a little bit of entertainment to try and lift people’s spirits.”
“Everyone across Brighton’s wonderful arts and events sector has been working so hard on their performances this year and we’re delighted to provide an opportunity for them to still showcase these,” he added.
